We’re on the lookout for a new Matchstick to join our team. With an energetic and enthusiastic content team in place, we’re keen to add some specialist skills in social media to help bolster our offering to purpose-driven businesses and organisations. This integral role will help to shape strategies, content creation and client relationships across several key projects.

This role is ideal for someone who has been working in a social media role and is looking to take the next step in their career as a manager. Equally, if you are someone with Social Media Manager experience and you’d like to work on more meaningful projects, we welcome your application as well. The role doesn’t involve managing people but will involve collaborating with the rest of the Matchstick Creative team. You will work closely alongside our Content Director, Manager and Executive to produce the best work possible.

What’s the pay?

This is a manager-level role within our organisation, so it’s up to £25k, depending on your experience level.

What skills and experience do you need to do the job?

  • 2-4 years of social media marketing experience
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills with excellent grammar and high attention to detail
  • Clear and effective communication, both verbal and written, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate key messages
  • Highly collaborative with the ability to influence and work effectively with a range of customer and internal and external stakeholders
  • Creative with the ability to generate new ideas and customer-focused strategies 
  • Strategic thinking and decision-making ability to connect long-term strategy with shorter-term execution plans
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to set relevant priorities daily 
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Creative thinking and a good understanding of brand tone of voice and its role within a brand

What will you be responsible for?

  • Managing client and company social channels, including engagement, content creation and content scheduling, demonstrating an understanding of the best practices of the main social media channels, which content and approaches work on each and why
  • Researching, writing, editing and proofreading clear, concise and engaging copy for Matchstick Creative and its clients, ensuring high standards and consistency across all content, in a style in line with tone and mission
  • Forming key relationships with influencers across social media platforms
  • In line with the client’s needs and motivations, managing the delivery and chasing of work on client accounts, liaising effectively with all key stakeholders 
  • Ideation and brainstorming for clients and Matchstick Creative, generating new ideas and strategies, identifying which content will be most effective for specific audiences 
  • Monitoring, tracking, analysing and reporting on performance on social media platforms using tools such as Google Analytics and Sprout Social then applying those learnings to suggest improvements
  • Creating engaging multimedia content (and/or outsource this effectively) across multiple platforms
  • Supporting more junior members of staff with social media work and content production
  • Analysing competitor activity and apply learnings
  • To continually improve own skill set with further reading & training around content marketing, SEO, social media and latest industry trends 
  • To undertake any other duties to assist in the day to day running of Matchstick Creative, assisting the Content Director with any ad-hoc tasks as required

Anything else to consider?

  • We’d welcome applications with anyone with a penchant for making video content, but it’s not the end of the world if you don’t have this skill set.
