Firestarters and Gather are teaming up to bring you the third and final installment of the Purpose Accelerator series! ‘Startup Culture’ will aim to help purpose-driven startups and scale up businesses to grow, develop and spark positive change across the Liverpool City Region.
A new era for entrepreneurs
The face of business has changed rapidly over the past few years, directly influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic and the Black Lives Matter movement. Change has taken place through a shift in narratives surrounding social impact, diversity and inclusion. This has forced organisations to adapt and move into a new era of business.
Between March and December 2020, over 4,700 newly launched businesses were recorded across Liverpool, giving the city the title of 7th most successful ‘hotspot’ for lockdown businesses. A large proportion of these businesses were set up as purpose and values-led organisations, striving to tackle issues relating to the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent government imposed lockdowns.
Two years on from this, there are a range of initiatives and programmes across the city that work to support these value-led enterprises. The surge of startup culture is still prevalent within the region. Innovative projects such as LCR founders, the recent collaboration with Liverpool John Moores and the Baltic CIC, and Startup Grind’s Tech Expansion Programme are all clear examples of the region’s response to the new era of entrepreneurs.
But how do we do more to support startup culture in the Liverpool City Region that also fuels purpose-driven growth and innovation?
Who is the event for?
The event is open to anyone but is specifically aimed at purpose-driven startup and sale up entrepreneurs, business leads and Liverpool City Region influencers. Some of the benefits of attending the final Purpose Accelerator event are:
- A chance to hear from industry experts on the challenges surrounding starting and expanding a business in the Liverpool City Region
- Hear best tips and practices on how to access support and opportunities in helping your business grow
- A chance to networking with socially-driven innovators and thinkers with potential for future collaboration
- Space to think about your own startup challenges and how your business may respond to this
What will the event do for the region?
‘Startup Culture’ will strive to provide advice and support for startup and scale-up businesses to grow and develop, leading to entrepreneurial growth and innovation across the Liverpool City Region. By addressing the challenges and barriers faced by startup businesses, we can form actionable next steps to understand how we can collaborate to form networks of support within the startup and scale-up community.
Firestarters will draw upon the community of changemakers, to gather valuable insights that will help to address the social and economic challenges facing the region and how we remove these barriers to success. By forming these connections, Firestarters will drive collaboration between purpose-driven organisations from the public, private and third sectors.
